Cooperative Extension System Offices. This section of our Web site will help
you find your nearest Cooperative Extension office. The Cooperative
Extension System is a nationwide, non-credit educational network. Each U.S.
state and territory has a state office at its land-grant university and a
network of local or regional offices. These offices are staffed by one or more
experts who provide useful, practical, and research-based information to
agricultural producers, small business owners, youth, consumers, and
others in rural areas and communities of all sizes.

Welcome to HSing! I'm starting in the fall to HS my DD as well. It is scary but
exciting. First, find a good support group in your area, they are an invaluable
source of info and support and friends for your DC.
You may want to check out:
http://www.wholeheart.org/books_wholeHearted_child.asp You might be
able to check out the book from the library. It explains the Charlotte Mason
approach to education and it can be done virtually free. All you need to do is
check out excellent living books, provide a sketch book, journal and paper &
pencil for writing/drawing. Personally, I am going to use KONOS
(www.konos.com) not *really* frugal but, one book can provide curriculum
for 3 years all age ranges. There are 3 volumes plus time line characters.
You can find KONOS on eBay.
There are sooooooo many resources out there and vendors, maybe you can
find when a used curriculum sale is going on and attend it to do nothing else
but see what folks use in your area and see if it looks like it works for you.
You may be able to talk to other HSers and pick there brains too. We have
another big HS conference coming to Atlanta in July and I am looking forward
to it to
simply see what is out there resource-wise and to attend the seminars.
The biggest thing to find out is what requirements there are for your state
and make sure you are in compliance. Georgia isn't too bad. The biggest
pain is mailing in monthly attendance sheets.

You should also be aware of http://babelfish.altavista.com There, you can
translate your messages to other languages, or other languages to yours. Like
all machine translation, it is far from perfect--but you can often get the sense
of what is said either in a message or web page.
